🔐 Data Breach: Health Info Notices Coming to Thousands in Central Oregon

Thousands of people in Central Oregon will soon receive mailed notices after a data breach involving TriZetto Provider Solutions (TPS), a third‑party contractor that handles insurance‑eligibility information for local healthcare providers including Deschutes County Health Services, Best Care, and La Pine Community Health Center. The breach occurred when an unauthorized actor accessed TPS’s systems beginning in November 2024, and although TPS eliminated the threat in October 2025, the incident may have exposed protected health information (PHI for patients and policyholders nationwide).

Local providers are working to identify affected clients and are sending notifications now rather than waiting for TPS’s own mailed notices. Letters are expected to go out in February to roughly 1,200 La Pine Community Health Center patients, 1,300 Deschutes County Health Services clients, and 1,650 Best Care clients. Exposed data may include names, addresses, birthdates, Social Security numbers, health insurer details and member IDs, but no medical treatment or financial information was accessed, and there’s no evidence so far of misuse. Identity‑protection services, including credit monitoring and fraud support, are being offered to those affected.

🎉 Rudy’s Markets Kicks Off 50th Anniversary with Gold Bar Giveaways & Hunger Relief

Central Oregon‑born grocery favorite Rudy’s Markets is celebrating five decades of serving the community in 2026 with a year‑long lineup of thank‑you initiatives — including a monthly real gold bar giveaway and a major hunger‑relief match program. To mark its 50th anniversary, the employee‑owned company will automatically enter customers who use their Foode Flash card at checkout into monthly drawings for one of 12 gold bars through the end of the year (no purchase necessary).

Beyond the giveaways, Rudy’s is teaming with local partners to fight food insecurity by matching customer donations at checkout up to a combined $100,000, helping stretch every dollar to purchase food at wholesale for families in need. The celebration reflects the company’s deep roots in the region and its commitment to giving back to the communities that helped it thrive since 1976.

🍺 Bend’s Terranaut Beer Named a USA TODAY 10Best Nominee!

Bend’s own Terranaut Beer has been nominated in USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best New Brewery in America, giving the local brewery a shot at national recognition among top craft beer destinations. Voting is now open, and supporters can cast their ballots to help put Terranaut — known for its creative beers and growing fan base in Bend’s vibrant beer scene — on the national beer map. (youtube.com)

Terranaut launched its taproom and beers in Bend recently and has quickly become a favorite thanks to its range of styles and local craftsmanship. Being included on the 10Best list highlights the brewery’s impact and gives beer lovers everywhere a chance to celebrate Bend’s thriving brewing culture. (terranautbeer.com)

🚧 Olney Avenue to Reopen Feb. 11 After Delays

Bend drivers can expect relief soon — Olney Avenue between Wall Street and Second Street is set to reopen on Wednesday, Feb. 11, reconnecting a vital east-west route between downtown and Third Street. The reopening comes about four months behind schedule, due to unexpected geotechnical issues beneath the railroad tracks and coordination delays with BNSF Railway.

Once open, the updated section will include divided east- and westbound lanes, dedicated bike lanes, and sidewalks, offering a safer and more accessible route for all users. City officials say the remaining work is now on track, with the final touches scheduled in the coming weeks.

🚓 Overnight Pursuit Ends in Crash, Vehicle Abandoned in SE Prineville

In the early hours of Jan. 31, a Prineville Police officer attempted to stop a silver Ford F-350 near SE Knowledge Street. The driver refused to yield, sparking a reckless pursuit through the Crook County High School parking lot, an alleyway, and ultimately crashing through a wooden fence in southeast Prineville. Due to the dangerous driving, officers and Crook County deputies ended the pursuit for safety reasons.

The vehicle was later found abandoned and impounded. No injuries have been reported, but several properties were damaged. Prineville Police are continuing the investigation and encourage anyone with information or video footage to contact Officer Zarom Bruce at 541-447-4168. Oregon State Police also assisted in the incident.

🏍️ Motorcyclist Arrested After Reckless Riding Near Bend Protest

Central Oregon Daily News

A 34-year-old Bend man was arrested Saturday afternoon after repeatedly circling his motorcycle through a busy intersection during a protest at NW Wall Street and Franklin Avenue. Officers say Kurt Patrick Greenwood was endangering pedestrians and blocking traffic when he first fled at high speed down Franklin Avenue. Per department policy, officers did not pursue him through the crowded area.

Minutes later, Greenwood returned and again rode laps through the protest. When he got stuck in traffic on Wall Street, officers conducted a stop. Greenwood resisted getting off the bike and was taken into custody on the ground without injury. He faces charges including disorderly conduct, eluding, resisting arrest, and multiple traffic violations. His motorcycle was impounded for lack of insurance, and Wall Street was briefly blocked during the arrest.
